The most common misreading treats Sade Sati as a fixed 7.5-year sentence of misfortune. Its actual severity depends heavily on how well-placed Saturn is in the natal chart itself, its own sign dignity, house, and aspects, and on which of the three phases (rising, peak, setting) is active. A strong natal Saturn can make the same transit far gentler than a weak one.
A second misreading conflates Sade Sati with Dhaiya (also called Kantaka Shani), a shorter, roughly 2.5-year Saturn transit through the 4th or 8th house counted from the natal Moon sign. Both are Saturn-transit effects, but they're distinct phenomena with different durations and house triggers, and are often lumped together in casual conversation.
A third misreading confuses Sade Sati with the Western astrology concept of a 'Saturn Return', which is unrelated despite the similar-sounding name: a Saturn Return happens once around age 29-30 (the time Saturn takes to orbit the Sun once) and lands at roughly the same age for everyone, while Sade Sati is tied to your specific natal Moon sign and can start at any age, whenever Saturn's slow transit reaches the signs around it.

The house Saturn transits, counted from your rashi, determines its main area of influence. The 12th, 1st, or 2nd house is Sade Sati; the 4th or 8th house is Dhaiya. This page shows that status from real calculation, not a fixed prediction.

Is this my exact personal status?
This is general, rashi-level information that treats the Moon sign as the base. For your exact status, use the Sade Sati calculator with your real date, time, and place of birth.
Is Saturn transit always difficult?
No. Classical texts describe the effect as depending on Saturn's own placement, strength, and the rest of the chart. This page exists to inform, not to alarm.
