How does the nakshatra calculator work?
The calculator uses your birth date, time and location to determine the Moon's precise position (Lahiri ayanamsa). The 13°20' segment the Moon falls in is your birth nakshatra.
Is an exact birth time necessary?
Yes. The Moon spends roughly 24 hours in each nakshatra, so a difference of even a few hours can change the nakshatra or pada.
