Manglik check

Manglik check: is your chart Manglik?

A chart is Manglik (Mangal dosha) when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house counted from the ascendant, Moon or Venus. Enter your birth date, time and place: this free check shows which of the three reference points trigger it and whether a classical cancellation rule applies. No signup.

How to read your result

  • Manglik: Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the ascendant, Moon or Venus.
  • Cancelled: Mars is in those houses, but a classical rule treats the dosha as cancelled. The line under your result says which one.
  • Not Manglik: from none of the three is Mars in those houses.
  • On its own this is not a verdict on a marriage. For a couple, both charts are read together.

What is Manglik dosha?

Manglik (Mangal) dosha forms when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house counted from the ascendant, Moon, or Venus. It is checked from three separate reference points, so Mars in one qualifying house does not always mean the chart is Manglik overall.

Being Manglik by itself is not proof of anything good or bad. Traditional astrology recognises several situations where the dosha is considered cancelled, such as when both the groom and bride are Manglik.

That is why, for marriage, Manglik status is better read by comparing both charts than from one chart alone.

Common misreadings of Manglik dosha

A common misreading treats every Manglik house as equally serious. Classical texts don't weight all six qualifying houses (1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th) the same: Mars in the 7th or 8th house is traditionally read as more consequential than Mars in the 2nd or 12th, since severity is tied to how directly that house governs marriage and partnership.

A second misreading stops at 'Manglik: yes/no' without checking the cancellation rules at all. Classical astrology lists specific conditions beyond both partners simply being Manglik, including particular house-lord relationships and certain sign placements of Mars itself (such as its own or exalted sign), under which the dosha is considered nullified. Skipping that check is reading only half the rule.

A third misreading treats Manglik status as the single deciding factor in a match. It's one traditional compatibility check among several (alongside the 36-point Guna Milan and other dosha checks); a strong overall match with a manageable Manglik combination reads very differently from a weak match that also happens to be Manglik.

FAQ

Questions about Manglik dosha

How is Manglik dosha determined? +

Mars's position is checked separately from the ascendant, Moon, and Venus. If Mars falls in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from any of these, the chart is considered Manglik.

Is being Manglik a bad thing? +

No, it is simply an astrological fact, not a prediction. Several traditional rules cancel it out, especially when both partners are Manglik.

Why should marriage matching look at both charts? +

Cancellation rules are based on comparing both charts together. One person's Manglik status alone is not the full picture, so matching both kundlis before marriage gives a fuller picture.

Is this check free? +

Yes, completely free and without signup. For marriage you can also see a two-chart match score free. The full report is paid.
