What is Gochar?
Gochar means the current motion of the grahas. Whichever rashi each planet sits in today shapes its immediate influence. Weekly, monthly, and yearly rashifal all read off these live transit positions.
Common misreadings of Gochar
A common misreading treats a planet's current transit sign as automatically meaningful the same way for everyone. Which sign a planet is passing through today is a fact of the sky, identical for every observer, but its traditional significance is read relative to your own natal Moon sign or ascendant, not as a universal effect. The same Saturn transit through, say, Capricorn means something different for a Cancer Moon than for a Capricorn Moon.
A second misreading treats retrograde (vakri) motion as the planet physically reversing direction in space. It's an apparent effect of perspective: as Earth overtakes a slower outer planet in its own orbit (or a faster inner planet overtakes Earth), that planet appears to move backward against the background stars for a while, even though its real orbital motion never reverses.
A third misreading checks gochar in isolation from the birth chart. Weekly, monthly and yearly rashifal read the current transit positions specifically against your own Moon sign, and a deeper reading also weighs the running dasha; gochar by itself is one layer, the same way a regional weather forecast isn't a forecast for your specific house.

Why do planetary transits change every day?
Every planet moves at its own pace. The Moon changes sign in about 2.25 days, the Sun in a month, and Saturn in roughly 2.5 years. Every day at least one graha nudges forward, so the transit picture shifts a little.
What does retrograde mean?
A planet is retrograde when, from Earth, it appears to move backward across the sky. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn turn retrograde once or twice a year. The Sun and Moon never do. Rahu and Ketu are always retrograde.
How is Gochar linked to rashifal?
Every rashifal is fundamentally an interpretation of Gochar. Counting each planet from your rashi shows which house it currently occupies, and that shapes the day, week, or month for that sign. Change the transit and every rashi's outlook shifts with it.
