Birth details feel personal. They are. This page explains, in plain language, what Nakshara does with the information you share and why you can trust us with it.

What you share with us

  • • When you use a Nakshara calculator or request a report, you enter a date, time and place of birth. For paid reports you also share your name, email or WhatsApp number, and payment details.
  • • We do not ask for government ID, Aadhaar, PAN, or any financial account numbers. We never will.

What we do with it

  • • Your birth details go through our calculation engine and come back as a chart or report. That is the only reason we collect them.
  • • We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
  • • We do not use your individual birth details to train AI models. Aggregate, anonymised statistics (like "N users ran a panchang lookup today") may inform product decisions, but those cannot be traced back to you.

Who can see your data

  • • Only the small engineering team at Aktai Ltd has access to production data, and only when needed to fix a bug or respond to a support request. There is no browse-the-database dashboard; access is logged and audited.
  • • Your paid report is delivered to you (on-screen, by email, and on WhatsApp if you opted in). No one else receives it.
  • • Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe sees the minimum needed to process the charge (card details, billing email). Aktai Ltd never stores your full card number.

Where your data lives

  • • Your data is stored on servers operated by Aktai Ltd in the EU (Hetzner, Germany) and encrypted at rest. Backups are encrypted and stored in a separate region (Cloudflare R2).
  • • The website itself is a static site served over HTTPS. Calculator requests go through a Cloudflare-protected API. All traffic between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+).

How long we keep it

  • • Free calculator inputs (birth details entered on the website without creating an order) are retained for up to 90 days for debugging and then purged.
  • • Paid report data (birth details, generated PDF, contact info) is retained for 6 years after the financial year of purchase, as required by UK company law. After that period, it is deleted.
  • • You can request deletion of your data at any time, regardless of these retention periods. See our Data Deletion page for how.

Your rights

  • • You can ask us to export, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 48 hours and act within 30 days.
  • • These rights apply whether you are in India (DPDP Act 2023), the EU/UK (GDPR), or anywhere else. We don't gate rights by geography.

Why an astrology site cares this much

  • • Most astrology platforms were built before modern privacy law. They collect birth details, phone numbers, and sometimes Aadhaar, with vague "we may share with partners" clauses buried in legalese.
  • • We built Nakshara to be the opposite: collect only what the calculation needs, explain what happens to it in language anyone can read, and make deletion a single email.
